Since fantasy films have become popular thanks to Harry Potter, LOTR and Narnia being successful! maybe it's time they outta do a live-action version of the beloved fantasy novel from Peter S. Beagle, the director of "Pan's Labyrinth", "Hellboy", "Blade 2", and "Devil's Backbone" Guillermo Del Toro should do the ideal film since he's a new master of fantasy.

There's too many rehashes and remakes out today already. We don't need anotnher one. This was one of my favorite animated flicks as a kid, and still is, and I don't want the memory of it tarnished by a remake.

Have you even read the book? it's excellent, almost better then the movie! although the original movie was good but the book is even better, i'd say this would be an adaptation not a remake and more longer and faithful to the book.

Patrick Stewart or Ian Mckellen should play King Haggard.

While I'm sure he would do a good job on The Last Unicorn, I think another film version is kind of unnecessary. :/

I thought it would be cool to see, even better if we could get Christoper lee on board

if they use the same style they used for harry potter, lord of the rings, and the lion, the witch and the wardrobe, we should be alright

Can u picture that - Th

They're already planning to do one. Couldn't tell you anything about it at this point other than they're planning to get Mia Farrow to be in it.

Nah, i say they should have Paul Bethany as Prince Lir with Glen Close as Molly Grue, but what do you think of Ian Mckellen or Patrick Stewart as King Haggard?

"Live Action" or live actors with everything else done in CGI?

The later man! i also think Ron Perlman would make an excellent Rouke and Linda Hunt as Mommy Fortuna.

So, another classic ruined by CGI...

Well maybe it can be fully CGI as in animated but done in photo-realism over actors like beowulf was! Robert Zemeckis can be the executive producer with Imagemovers doing all the animation.

Well maybe in live-action with effects by WETA who did superb effects on "Lord of the Rings" and "Narnia" with some animatronics and make-up by Rick Baker.

Very good fantasy movie that reminds viewers of the classic old school fantasy movies, well maybe Luc Besson (Director of "Leon The Professional", "The Fifth Element") could be a good choice doing a live-action TLU movie and i think James Remar (Ajax from "The Warriors") would make a perfect live-action Schmendrick.

Okay, here's all that I know. IMDB no longer has the new film listed. This means it's not in production yet, but the movie website is still up. The author recently published a sequel short story and they're still fighting him over royalties from DVD sales of The Last Unicorn, so that could be holding things up.

But I found this in one of his interviews in 2006:

"I can't talk much about it yet, but there seem to be all sorts of possibilities in the works — real possibilities, as opposed to your usual written-in-sand movie possibilities. I do think we might be able to resolve this issue, and also that a live-action Last Unicorn has a good chance of happening."

                                      :D
