I have noticed alot of 80's cartoons and shows , even from the 70's have been made into movies, and as big as "The Smurfs" were I wouldn't be surprised, and if they did bother to remake our little blue friends into the big screen , should they be CGI? or animated? or even real actors?? haha

personaly i like traditonal animation better. nothing against cg but i like varaity and there is nothing but cg now days.

Anyway, I'll probobly go see the Smurfs moive, i mean, it's the smurfs, those guys can do anything really, they got a whole village of people to interact with. The reality is, only a total fucking moron could screw up the smurfs, and teh franchise is so big they'll probobly be careful. It may not end up being a great film, but it'll be good and fun to watch at least.

they'll probably do it like "Horton Hears a Who", appealing to kids, but with the comedians adults (past fans) love as well

Without William Hanna and Joseph Barbara this wont be good, or be a "real" Smurfs movie.

It's been almost 50 years since the smurfs were first created for a Belgian comic strip in 1958. And to celebrate the anniversary there WILL be a smurfs movie.

Rumored to do voice work for the film are John Lithgow and Julia Sweeney. I can only assume they will be voicing Papa Smurf and Smurfette. Altho I can also see John voicing Gargamel.

with each post that comes on this thread I can see that people aren't reading all the posts.

so I'll say it here instead of posting a link.

The estimated date of release was supposed to be Nov 2008. But now it has been pushed back to mid 2009

They must have some delays to just keep pushing the date back.

Now that is perfect casting! i think this movie should be like "Kung Fu Panda" or "Horton Hears a Who" where it would have some 2D animated sequences.
