My mom has been sick for a while, and tonight, I caught what she has.

It all began around my lunch hour at work. I was engaged in a long conversation with several co-workers about a matter of no great consequence. There were only minutes left to go until my lunch hour ended, and my Subway sandwich was half-eaten. I scarfed the whole thing down, and I started feeling sick shortly thereafter.

I left work early, and came home. I relaxed as best I could, but I was feeling really ill. I was drinking water, and I ended up vomiting just a few minutes ago.

I'm really feeling under the weather...I'm not going to be able to see my psychologist tomorrow.

No, I'm not pinning it on Subway. It was the sandwich I usually order, but something just got to me.

I haven't felt vomiting sick in a long time...Does anybody have any ideas on how to soothe an upset stomach when you don't have any antacids in your house?

That sucks. I hate being sick. Especially the throwing up kind of sick. Sometimes soda can settle your stomach. Like sprite or ginger ale.

    Hope you feel better.

      7up helps too.

Well, we have plenty of soda. It's a popular drink in the house...We go through it like water. None of the sodas are flat, though. All of them are fizzy.

You know, I actually don't mind flat soda. The sugar is more pronounced when it's flat. My brother doesn't care for it, though. He'll dump half-a-bottle into the sink if he thinks it's flat.

        Well, that's his thing.

Alright, so flat soda has been suggested. Are there any other ideas?

Ah, that's not good. Possible food poisoning? Or perhaps a bad cold? Anyway, I rarely ever throw up except when I'm really sick, but when I have upset stomach and whatnot I usually take Pepto Bismol and that helps a little bit. Really don't know what else to recommend.

Caps, have you ever tried crystalized ginger? my mom uses it for her stomach and it seems to sooth her when she is not feeling well, if you can't find it at your regular local grocery stores, it is found lots of times at health food store. Also I have heard that mint and ginger teas can help. Just a suggestion. :)

Hope you feel better soon!! I know the feeling :(

Plain burnt toast. That will help neutralize the acids.

Oh yes, Ginger. I heard it works well for sea-sickness but ya never know. Could work well in this case too.

                      Hmm, good idea.

It is a little late and I don't want to be doing much cooking at this time of night. I'll probably have it for a late breakfast or early lunch instead.

It's difficult for me to get to sleep right now. I guess maybe being sick can do that to you. I'll hopefully get tired soon.

Oh, and one more thing: How much should the toast be burnt?

Ginger ale or 7up and saltine crackers should work, and some Pepto Bismol if you have some.
I hope you and your mom feel better!

Try rolaids and green tea, those might help :)

It should be blackened, but not charred. Basically you're making edible charcoal. That helps neutralize the acids from an upset stomach. Bases and acids. Basic chemistry.

Thanks for all the advice and well-wishes, guys (and gals).

Thankfully, the worst of it is over. I'm still not feeling good, to the point where I couldn't get any sleep last night, but I'll just be taking a few days to rest.

Granted, these days are my days off anyway, but it's still a relief.
