Inspired by the 1984 feature film, The further adventures of the Ghostbusters: Peter, Ray, Egon, Winston and Slimer as they seek to catch ghosts, protect New York City... and make money! They're ready to believe you!

The cartoon is titled "The Real Ghostbusters" as Filmation had already made a cartoon titled "Ghostbusters". In fact, the producers of the 1984 film had to buy the rights to the name.

then in 1998. the show had a spinoff called the extream ghostbuster. the did have the return of egon from the origional team. who trained a new team of busters. garret, roland, kylie, and edwardo. to combat ghosts once again with better wepons and a new ghost trap.

I have over 100 eps on VHS that I taped off TV. I recently revised the them all and cut out all the commercials. So, on a lazy day, I'll put them on and watch them as I do chores around the house. I'm such an Egon...I mean...nerd.

this show was awsome i have a VHS tape i like to watch it alot oh yeah PLEASE READ:there will be a new ghostbusters game for the wii playstaion and xbox 360 keep a look out

wooooooooooo who ya gonna call.i think i still have videos of the real ghostbusters somewhere. i wish i could find them this was my second favourite show to tmnt

if you notice, you'll realize that most of the old 80s cartoons were actually japanese anime. Look at the ending credits. kind of interesting... Also, did anyone notice how the word 'The Real' looks like coca cola letters? Then if look at the Columbia pictures logo at the end of the credits, it says it's part of the coca cola company. Am i the only one that finds that weird?
