The first season intro, very nice.

That, plus one or two others (season two, australia season, maybe islands season) was really all that I found good about Road Rules before it got seriously homogenized like the rest of MTV's productions. It was best when it didn't have a lot of glitz and style constraints thrown on it, and it was just about the drama from the various people going on a long, diverse and often trying trip together.

Some highlights from Season One:
* After a several minute montage of footage of the cast hiking through Southwest desert: "Are we there yet, Papa Smurf?"
* The spooky story of a "cereal" killer when the cast spends a night in a New Orleans graveyard.
* The military camp exercises, where the cast gets owned by the recruits who make it look easy. Later we all learn just how tasty MREs (Meals Ready "to" Eat) can be, and they actually are.

All in all, a very good show, but it lagged after the sixth season or so, a lot like the Real World.
