Movie Summary

Released: 1981
ROCKY HORROR's Brad (Cliff DeYoung) and Janet Majors (Jessica Harper) find themselves trapped in a TV studio world. After Brad is committed to the mental hospital on "Dentonvale," his captors convince Janet that the only way to help him is to become a star herself. But sinister mogel Farley Flavors may be pulling the strings on the network's rising stars.

This bizarre, little-known follow-up to THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW boasts a lot of the same cast members (as different characters), good music, and some biting satire, inside jokes and stabs at the cult of Rocky Horror. Unfortunately, its subject matter and themes are completely different -- and Tim Curry was unable to take a role in the film, which helped to secure its lack of success. The film has had several releases on video and laserdisc, and now it's out on DVD.

Initially, I wasn't sure what to make of this movie. "Rocky Horror," it's not, and I think that's why many people have been turned off to it (as I initially was when I saw it nearly 20 years ago). However, it was waaaay ahead of its time, being a spoof of reality TV before there WAS reality TV. The music is fantastic, the visuals are beautiful, and the satire is dead-on. Although I never thought it'd happen, I've come to prefer this to RHPS, and the CD often winds up in my player. If you've seen it on video, get the DVD. Many of the anomolies in previous releases have been corrected (though there's a new audio problem in "Denton USA" and they totally f'ed up the music over end credits), and the picture is absolutely pristine. It'll never be held in as high regard as RHPS, but it's a decent movie on its own.

This movie is not a movie that very many people can get into unless you are a die hard Rocky fan. But when it comes down to it this movie to me is a very good one and I actually prefer the music in this movie more just cause it is more catchy
