The Private Eyes

Movie Summary

Released: 1981
This old-dark-house spoof finds Inspector Winship (Don Knotts) and Dr. Tart (Tim Conway) summoned by Lord Morley to his mansion to reveal who killed him. Yes, you read that correctly. Unfortunately, Winship and Tart are The Yard's most inept detectives, and all of Morley's staff seem to be completely insane.

This was the first film released by Tri-Star Pictures. A follow-up film featuring the Wookalar monster was planned, but never made it to the screen.

Tim Conway as Dr. Tart
Don Knotts as Inspector Winship

This was one of my very favorite films when I was a kid, and the only Knotts/Conway pairing that I ever really liked. It's remained memorable to me for a number of reasons, but first and foremost: the wookalar freaked me out!

This was easily Tim and Don's best comedy together. So many great moments. My personal favorite,is the horse neers scene.
