Lingo
Debut: September 28, 1987

This game begins with two teams of two contestants each. Each team is given a Lingo card with 25 spaces each after which seven spaces are covered to begin. The team is shown the first letter of a randomly generated five-letter word. The team then has five guesses to figure out what the word is, with red squares indicating a correct letter and yellow balls indicating incorrectly placed but present letters. Incorrectly guessing the word for five turns passes on to the other team. Once a word is guessed, the contestant begin the second half of the round pulling numbered balls out of a hopper corresponding to numbers on their card to fill in those squares. The team getting a Lingo, a full row, column, or diagonal, wins the round. The show originally aired in syndication from 1987-1988 as hosted by Michael reagan. GSN aired a second version from 2002-2007 hosted by Chuck Woolery, and a third in 2011 hosted by Bill Engvall. In 2023 CBS debuted a new version hosted by Ru Paul.
