It wasn't really just about knowing whether or not your children were out and about...it was also asking were your children were. Were they out having unprotected sex, hopping fences, and getting stoned off their asses? Not just getting kidnapped, maimed, or killed. This clip surfaced somewhere during the mid-to-late 1960's. The 60's and 70's were a time of turbulence. The Bay of Pigs, the Cuban Missile Crisis, JFK's Assassination, the Zodiac Murders, the Chicago Massacre, the University of Texas Massacre, the My Lai Massacre, the Tet Offensive MLK Jr. and Bobby Kennedy's Assassinations, the Manson Family Killings, the Kent State/Jackson State Massacres, the Munich Massacre, Watergate, the Son of Sam Killings, Murder in Jonestown, the Cleveland Elementary School Shooting, etc.

They still say this at 10 PM on Channel 5. Over the years, they've even had celebrities do it, like Ed O'Neill and Katey Segal from Married with Children. A news anchor, Tom Gregory, started saying it back in the '60s.

For some reason, it never creeped me out when I was a kid. It does a little bit now, though. "Have you checked the children? MUHUHAHAHAHA!"

    What the heck?
*demon voice* do you know where your children are?
    *twilight zone theme*

LOL. I don't even know what the curfew is around here.

    LOL.

TV was still a novelty, and it was a large, timber box. 10pm seems very late in that era, there are no mobile phones, security camera's, e.t.c e.t.c.

70's were a dark, dim, computerless *gernally*,connectedless, drug hazed, slow, heavy era. It was a danergous place for children

What a random commercial. Assuming maybe around when 10 o'clock curfews were starting to be enforced.

    Probably on the streets somewhere.
