The quality kept going in before the name went on up til the late '70s, at least.

I think since there is no 1960's category, it got placed in the 1970's area since that is the closest. I'd love to have one of those radios too. Zenith is or was a good brand, I think Gold Star of Korea owns them now, I might be wrong on the name but I think a Korean interest owns them now. Our current TV set is a Zenith, a 1982 model we got in early 1983, it has been in daily use since then. I'll be 43 this July and I'm still watching the same set I did when I was 16 and in the 10th grade.

Back to the radio, I'd take either one of those transistors or tubed Transoceanics.

I own an early-1960's Zenith Trans-Oceanic radio as well...bought it at a rummage sale for $5 in the late 1980's...it still pulls in stations from all over the world. This was a radio that sold for $150...in the early 1960's!!! It was a big mother...took 9 "D" cells, as well as AC (I use a "universal" AC adapter with mine), and the "wavemaster" antenna is integrated with the radio's handle. You can't get a radio like that anymore!!!

does Zenith still make electronics? I fondly remember my old Zenith TV with the push/pull power knob and where you can just push the numbers on the TV to change the channel
