The show that FOX forgot

A look back on a very underrated show

1999 was a big year for FOX. They had The Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama, King of the Hill, and that's mostly what everyone remembers, but what about the 5th show at the time? That's right, The PJs

The PJ's is about a group of people who live in the housing projects in Detroit, Michigan. It stars Eddie Murphy as Thurgood Stubbs, the super intendent (Or, "Super" as the other characters say it.) of the projects, He also lives with his wife, Muriel Stubbs, voiced by Loretta Devine. This show has it's own page here on Retro Junk, so there isn't much of a need for me to explain it. All I'm really trying to say is that this was a great show, but only lasted on FOX for 2 seasons, fortunately it got picked up by the WB for a 3rd. The show currently airs on Cartoon Network's late night programming block, Adult Swim. 6 episodes (that were never aired in the U.S. before) are currently being shown on Adult Swim every saturday up until December 5th. These episodes started airing on October 31st (Halloween). so basically, if you wanna see new episodes of The PJs, just watch Adult Swim on saturdays!

P.S. I remember throwing a penny in a wishing fountain at the mall, and wishing that FOX would replace American Dad with new episodes of The PJs, because I see American Dad as more of an attempt to make Seth MacFarlane a household name, Just like The Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy, or The Cleveland Show.

Oh, Seth. When will You learn.

I liked the show but this article is way too short.

As bad as this article is, and as much as I hated the PJs,

I had to upvote this article because
    1. You know that the correct expression is "I couldn't care less"!
    2. You take Seth MacFarlane to task.

I appreciate everyone's criticism (Positive and negative) and I will indeed try to make my next article much less vague, short, and crappy.
P.S. I honestly have nothing against Seth MacFarlane, but every now and then it's fun to question the quality of his work.

your article should have been longer and you should have given more detail on everything

My article may be vague, short, and on the back page, but The PJs was an awesome show. Period.
    evan2007 Posted 3 years 6 months ago
    Very well, then. I'll stop.

Dude, you need to get a grip. You're being pretty ridiculous about the feedback.
    evan2007 Posted 3 years 6 months ago
Okay, I get it, I failed. FAIL. EPIC FAIL. SUPER EPIC FAIL. BIGGEST FAIL IN THE WORLD. BIGGEST FAIL IN HISTORY. ULTIMATE FAIL. FFFFAAAAIIIILLLL. End of story.

Wow...you try to give someone a clue about why their article failed and they get all bent out of shape. Let me address your points:

    1. I never searched for anything. I always read all new articles, even the ones that show up on the back page. So, I have no idea how to find the article you are referencing.

    2. Doesn't matter if this is your first article or your 50th. And it should matter to you whether or not people like it...me included...if you don't want it to end up on the back page. I'm just letting you know it did *not* end up back here because of your comment about Seth McFarlane. The article fails in many other respects, and until you recognize this and work on fixing what is wrong with it, you might not find the success you're hoping for. I'm telling you this to help you, despite what you think.

    3. It's called criticism, and I'd like to think it was constructive. If no one points out to you why your article was a failure, you would likely never figure it out. I get tired of being called out for being honest, but it's not likely to stop me. Either take what I say and use it to help you or feel free to ignore it and dwell forever on the back page. I don't care.

    1. How could You not know how to locate the page? You search for the show to find it.

    2. This is my first article ever, so I can care less if You like it or not.

    3. I hope it feels real good pointing out the short comings of others

I don't think this article is on the back page because of MacFarlane fans. I think it's back here because it does a really bad job of telling us about the show.

Despite the fact that you mention that there is a page somewhere on Retro Junk about this show (and who knows where that is), you don't tell anyone how to locate it.

And since you don't give much information about the show, we're left with a really short article that doesn't tell us much. People like me, who have never seen this show, would have appreciated more information about it than what was provided...because what is here tells me next to nothing about it.

There's no information about the characters, the plots, or really what the show is even about.

So, thumbs down. I could care less about Seth MacFarlane.

Oh great, I can't delete it once it's been approved.
    evan2007 Posted 3 years 6 months ago
*sigh* Should I just delete this if it's gonna get a score of -3?
Might as well, if there are so many MacFarlane worshipers out there.
second exodous Posted 3 years 6 months ago
Wow, score -3, I think there are some Family Guy fans here. I voted up just to see if anyone else liked the PJ's.
second exodous Posted 3 years 6 months ago
Didn't they cancel Family guy because of the PJ's? The only reason that American Dad was even made is because of the gap that Family Guy left. At the time I thought Family Guy was canceled to make room for the PJ's so I refused to watch it, still never have. I felt that Family Guy was sabotaged, but on at changing times and then just not on at all then the announcement came that it was gone for good. I hate Family Guy now, can't stand it, but I still have ill feelings towards the PJ's because I thought Fox bumped Family Guy to make it.
    Score:
    -14
