Remembering The Lost Boys
What made it a cult classic?
The lost boys came out on July 31, 1987.It was about a newly divorced mother of two, moving to her fathers house in Santa Clara, California. But when her son Michael starts hanging around a gang of teenage bikers who just happen to be vampires. I didnt see it in theaters since I was only 4 years old, but I do remember watching it when I was about 12 years old while sleeping over at a friends house. When I first saw it, I had nightmares for days, and never wanted to see that movie for days. Well I did a fews years later, and it became one of my favorite movies. And here are some of the things that in my mind that made it a cult classic.
One is two stars that made the movie what it is,
Kiefer Sutherland- Starring as David, the head vampire of the pack. I always thought he was kick ass starring "Young Guns" and playing the crazed bully in "Stand By Me". He made this Character creepy, scary, and cool all in once.
Corey Feldman- Starring as Edgar Frog the vampire hunter. I was always a Corey Feldman fan ever since seeing the "Goonies". I dont think this movie would have been the same without him. I think he was funny in a serious way.
Another reason why I think this movie was a cult classic is because of its darkness and its humour. It was slick and original. It also brings the the Corey's ( Corey Haim, Corey Feldman) onto the same screen. Whats not to like about that? And dont forget that Bill from "Bill and Teds Exellent Adventure was a vampire. Other then that the movie grabs on to you, and you want to watch it all over again, and again. Not to metion to listen to a great song from the movie " Cry Little Sister" by Gerard McMann.
I just hope that the second Lost Boys does good justice to the original. So dont mess it up Mr. Feldman!
