Ranpou (らんぽう, alternatively spelled Rampoo) is a gag comedy manga serialized in Weekly Shounen Champion by Masatoshi Uchizaki from 1978 to 1987. A special one-shot volume was published in Shounen Champion in 2009 to celebrate its 40th anniversary of the manga. It was adapted into a 21-episode anime by Tsuchida Production that aired in Spring 1984. Besides the opening theme, the anime went obscure for a long time before finally deciding to receive an HD home video release in Japan set for Christmas 2021. Mild-mannered Japanese kid Ranpou is kidnapped by aliens whose UFO-based experiments turn him into a warp boy who truly believes that he can do anything.
