Scarface (1932)
Release: March 31, 1932

Key lieutenant of South Side Chicago crime boss Johnny Lovo (Osgood Perkins), Tony Camonte (Paul Muni) is an ambitious and reckless gangster who ignores warnings not to mess with Irish gangs on the North Side. When the North Side retaliates, Tony essentially massacres them, leaving him on top of the world. Worried about Tony's overconfidence, however, Johnny orders him killed, but this also backfires, and Tony finds himself even closer to becoming king of the city. It was later remade as the 1983 film of the same title starring Al Pacino.

Tony Camonte: "There's only one thing that gets orders and gives orders. [points to Tommy Gun] And this is it. That's how I got the south side for you, and that's how I'm gonna get the north side for you. It's a typewriter. I'm gonna write my name all over this town with it, in big letters!"
John 'Johnny' Lovo: "Hey, stop him somebody!"
Tony Camonte: "Get out of my way Johnny, I'm gonna spit! [starts firing]"
