They were two men with very little in common...except for the fact they had the same blood in their veins. Widower Harry is a blue-collared construction worker who always believed that to appreciate the importance of working for a living. His son, Howard believes in his own lifestyle which includes working part-time at a car wash, surfing, and dreams of being the next Ernest Hemmingway. One day, intense headaches and impaired vision cause Harry to lose control of the wrecking ball on his crane and nearly killing a co-worker which results in Harry losing his job. Frustrated by his unemployment and refusing to work in his brother's military surplus store, Harry forces Howard to get a real job, but nothing pans out for him...or really suits Howard. This leaves Harry angry and lashing out at everyone even at his daughter whose relationship is already strained because of his hatred towards her husband. Meanwhile, Harry spends some of his free time with Lilly, a pet store owner who has always loved and more since his wife died. Along the way, Howard rekindles his relationship with Lilly's daughter, Katie who is pregnant with another man's child. Harry's health worsens but refuses to go to doctor. Instead, he reaches to the point where he wants Howard to grow up, give up his dream of being a writer and then threatens to throw him out of the house. Can they patch things up and find some happiness before tme runs out? Directed by Paul Newman who co-produced and co-wrote the script with Ronald Buck. Based on "A Lost King" by Raymond DeCapite.
