Mardi Gras: Made in China
Release: May 15, 2006

A documentary film that shows the entire life cycle of strings of Mardi Gras beads. From their manufacturing in a Chinese factory up to and after New Orleans' Big Day and through to their use as pieces of art sculptures in New York. Filmmaker David Redmon explores how globalization has led to a tried-and-true American holiday depending on China, and the poor labor conditions within, for its single most iconic material item.
