Strawberry Shortcake: Housewarming Surprise is an animated television special from 1983, produced by Nelvana. This is the fourth to feature the American Greetings character, Strawberry Shortcake. Strawberry Shortcake: Housewarming Surprise chronicles Strawberry Shortcake's move into a new house. This special included the first animated appearances of the characters Café Ole’, Almond Tea, Mint Tulip, Crêpe Suzette, and the twins, Lem n' Ada. This also marks the first appearance of the following pets: Burrito the burro, Marza Panda, Marsh Mallard the duck, Elcair the poodle, and Sugar Woofer. This was the first Strawberry Shortcake special produced by Nelvana, the previous three having been produced by Romeo Muller, Robert L. Rosen, and Fred Wolf. An animated version of Kenner's Dancing Strawberry Shortcake Doll appeared at the end of this special.
