http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-03-25-chrono-trigger-for-wii-virtual-console

Now this is an announcement that a lot of gamers has been waiting for. Chrono Trigger for the SNES has recently been announced for a Virtual Console release. They also announced a couple others, such as Mega Man X on the SNES and King of Monsters 2 for the Neo-Geo.

I'm probably going to try and go for Chrono Trigger when it comes out. I haven't really played it, and I'm very sure it will beat paying $30-50 for it on ebay.

Yes, I am aware that it's on the DS. However, it seems like a lot of people would want to own the game in it's full glory. I'm not really sure what the DS version is like, though.

Ah... OK. So I might consider that version then.

I have the DS version and have played the SNES version too, some of the sounds in the DS version have been altered, and it has the dialogue written from the version that was released for playstation. I prefer the SNES dialogue more, I like how they had frog speak in old style english.

and you're willing to pay more money just because frog speaks differently? the whole plot is exactly the same, so between all else the ds version seems fine to me

Did I say I would rather spend more on the SNES version? no, I said I PREFERRED it.

And besides, now that it's on virtual console, all you would have to spend to experience SNES version again is $8, why would I go to the bother of tracking down the original SNES game when it would cost ten times more?

meh. well there's no reason for me to get the original. the added side quests gave it more play time, and you could get a stronger sword than the rainbow

I've got the DS version, so no point in buying the SNES Version on the VC. If I was to buy Chrono Trigger, it would be a legit SNES cartridge because of collecting reasons.

Hmmmm, how do I already have this on virtual console then? Like it's a channel on the Wii and everything. I also have it for SNES.

Hell I paid 20 dollars just for the DS version and it's fun as hell. Frustrating at some times yes, but it's one of the best RPG games I've played that isn't world of warcraft or Pokemon.
