Story was that there was so many copies of E.T. for the 2600 unsold when they ceased production that they were buried in a pit in the desert and encased in cement.
That is among the legendary video game stories. Another is the short list of extremely valuable NES games.
There is a game called Stadium Events that was made by Bandai and then bought by NIntendo, but copies of the original packaging were sold. And recently a woman found a sealed copy at a thrift shop for 7 or 8 dollars and it's valued for thousands. Here's a link featuring some ebay auctions for the game.
