Seems fitting. It would be a side scrolling action/shooting game. Lots of jumping up in the air. Think X-Men for the Genesis, in terms of speed and action.

Remeber Weaponlord? It was a fighting game. But, it's art style is very interesting,....
It looks gritty enough to be a 16-bit version of God Of War!! The layout, story and gameplay mechanics (combos, puzzles, etc) would remain the same, but it would be side scrolling 2D.
