Nintendo just released 3 classics for the Wii's virtual console. They are:

Bonk's Adventure (TurboGrafx16, 1 player, 600 Wii Points) - I loved playing this game! My friends and I would play this game for hours on the TG-16. We were the few who actually owned a TG-16 that I knew of. But this game was the best on the TG-16 before it got ported to Nintendo.

Virtua Fighter 2 (Sega Genesis, 1-2 Players, 800 Wii Points) - I never really played any of the Virtua Fighter games. They just seemed kinda clunky to me. Plus the polygon graphics didn't appeal to me.

I saved one of the most anticipated games for last, even though it was an expected disappointment.

Punch Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream (NES, 1 Player, 500 Wii Points) - Yep, Mr. Dream and not Mike Tyson. This was expected due to Tyson's going to prison and Nintendo basically turning their back on the original game. It's still a classic, but without the babyeating Tyson. (Seriously, he once threatened to eat an opponents baby. He was joking, but how much? ;) ) I think everyone was expecting that was the version that would be released. The only way we can play Mike Tyson's Punch Out!! is either on an emulator or with the NES system.

Cool I was hoping they would put Punch-out on it. I really like that game even through it doesn't have mike tyson on it. I heard they might put Duck Hunt on it but I don't know if they will.

It is great they put a version of Punch Out on the VC. Its still a fun game, but the nostalgia value still lies with the Tyson version. Also, Duck Hunt would be great if they used the Wii-mote like they have with the WiiPlay game.

        1. I didn't have the Turbografx 16 so I didn't play Bonk's Adventure. It looks like an interesting game, though.

        2. Ah, the days of the large polygon graphics. Yeah, I hardly played this game too.

        3. Mr. Dream? Is it because of licensing or his reputation that Nintendo couldn't use Tyson? I really would like the orginal game to be on VC. It's a classic.

I'm sure the reputation didn't help matters. I'm sure a lot of people would like the original, but odds are it won't happen.

Basically, due to that Mike Tyson lost a big match to Buster Douglas, Nintendo no longer thought of him as a "great champion", so they slashed his contract. It was NOT because of the rape charge as some people thought (that didn't happen until 1991; a year after Punch out, the one with Mr. Dream in it, came out). Nintendo still regards Mr. Tyson as that stance today, and it seems that their embarrassed they had anything to do with that boxer. Still, with or without Mike Tyson, it's a great boxing game.

I've been waiting for Punch-Out to be released, so I'll definitely download that when I get the chance. Next up I'd like to see either Duck-Hunt or Super Punch-Out.
