I would say Street Fighter, I know most people hate it but I think it was an interesting interpretation of the series (it wasn't intended to be based off of the official storyline, y'know), and the plot was entertaining enough for me to get into. I love the variety of locations in the movie, and it was like "Street Fighter in the real world," so to say. They did choose some brilliant actors, too, Van Damme's obvious French accent aside.

I'm sure some would disagree but I always thought the anime version of Pok'emon was the closest I've ever seen to being just like the video games. They even have multiple Nurse Joys which in the game is just a reused sprite in all the Pok'emon centers. Of course I haven't seen too many other video game cartoons besides that so I don't really know how close they are.

The best videogame-to-movie adaptation I've seen would have to be "Silent Hill". Unlike most other game-based movies (with the exception of "Mortal Kombat") it actually followed the plot of the game(s) quite well.

My favorite movie that had anything to do with video games is "The Wizard".

My favorite movie that was based off a video game, is the first "Mortal Kombat".

I would have to choose TRON as the best movie about videogames, even though it wasn't based on a videogame. Reluctantly, I would choos the Resident Evil films as the best, particularly the third one.

Some others I haven't seen mentioned:
                Alone in the Dark
                Bloodrayne (1&2)

Street Fighter, imo, just wasn't good. I don't mind the story to it, I can tolerate that, it was the roles the characters had, the casting, and acting that bugged me. Van Damme should not have played Guile. They should've done a better job with Blanka and some of the other characters too. I also really hated Ken and Ryu's role for the movie. I hated the fact that Dee Jay was a bad guy as opposed to Bison (Balrog) and some other things.

That aside, one of the bests I've seen have been the Resident Evil series and the first Mortal Kombat film. I guess Pokemon's movies too, even though I haven't seen them all. They're pretty close to the games with the aspects in them, then again, that should be automatic anyway...

Silent Hill is the best VG adaptation ever.

Mortal Kombat 2 was probably the biggest piece of crap I've ever seen.

All I can say is that it wasn't as good as the first movie (mainly because they made Shao Khan too human-like).
