Whoops, I meant "Dracula's Curse". Fuck. Anyway, this game is awesome, don't get me wrong. It's Alucard's first appearance, you can switch out characters and one of them, Grant Dynasty, can even scale walls. Radical, I know. But dear lord 7lb 9oz baby Jesus is it frustrating as damn hell. That pirate ship stage can eat my balls. Anybody else out there have a love/hate relationship with this beast of a game?

    First of all... it's Dracula's Curse, n00b!

Second, I love this game to death. It can be frustrating at some points, like the level before the top of Dracula's Castle where the boss fight is your doppleganger. Sure, it sounds easy, but it's really hard.

Music ain't bad, either. Some folks say that the Jap version's music is superior to the US version is some ways, mostly because it had a special chip that allowed enhanced music, but I might be one of the few that prefer it without the chip. It's actually 50/50.

Only suggestion I have is to practice!! You'll only be hurt in the end if you don't.

EGM voted this game as one of the Top 100 games ever made in their 100th issue, so it can't be that bad...

It's not a bad game by any means. It's just one of those games that makes you wanna tear your own eyes out after you get really far in a stage, die right at the last boss, and then have to start way the hell back at the beginning. It should just start you at the damn boss so you don't have to hate your life all over again by dealing with the flying medusa heads, pitfalls and whatever other bullshit that sucks.

This and "Super Castlevania IV" are my favorite oldschool Castlevania titles.

Wouldn't hurt if you found Castlevania Chronicles on PSX!

                          No!!

They include Castlevania and Castlevania 3 (dunno about 2, probably not) on one disc, enhanced and stuff.

Actually, Castlevania Chronicles has neither Castlevania 1 or 3. It is an enhanced version of a Castlevania game that was previously only released in Japan, for some system that was only released in Japan. The game is very similar to Castlevania 1 though...with 16-bit graphics, and new levels.

As for Castlevania 3...it is definitley the most hard of them all. Those parts were you had to beat three bosses in a row - the Cyclops, Mummy, and Gargoyle...were just a nightmare to get through.

I'm sorry man, really. That game really gives Castlevania a bad rep'. Try part 1 & 3 if you really wanna hate and love some games at the same time.
