remember how if you stayed at the loading screen it would eventually go to simulated gameplay controlled by the computer and would stop if you hit the controller?

do games do this anymore?

You mean attract modes? No, I don't think games do that nowadays.

You mean at the title screen if nothing happens it'll just show a battle between CPU and CPU? Yea, mostly fighting games do that/did that. The most recent game I saw that occur was in DBZ Budokai: Tenkaichi 3 ... It would show a battle if you didn't press start. I didn't really like that game so I traded in it... Yea, a majority of games don't really do that anymore.

DMC4 plays a demo if you leave it at the press start screen.

Yeah I noticed it in WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2008.

Basically any sports game will do that. I was at a bar one night and some d-bag who I guess knew the owner had his XBOX hooked up to the big screen, and had Madden set on demo mode. If you don't press any buttons it will play the entire game. So he and a couple of other guys were just watching a game of the computer playing itself, and they were into it. I thought that was pretty dumb myself.

                    Yeah...Mortal Kombat does

Anyway, a few games still do that, if they don't have ain Intro story. Otherwise, based on what I've seen, they just replay the Intro story if start isn't pressed.

The only games I've seen do that are of course fighting games in the arcades, I think VF5 does it too.

I remember the attract mode in the Arcade version of UMK3 having Rain in it, even though you couldn't play as him

                        Why thank you! ^_^

Games still do attract/demo videos. They're mainly for stores to put the game in the system and let the video run to get us interested in the game. They typically are all CGI drenched unrealistic-to-in-game pieces of crap.

I remember in 1992 the "nintendo power pod" out here had zelda link to the past playing in nonstop demo mode. It has an awesome demo mode
