Yep, Square did. like you just said its a wanna be outrun game
well If you're gonna put it that way. I think this one was awesome. and I kinda liked how it was one car vs a team of one make cars on many different tracks from around the world. as to see who the better car and Driver is!!
or you can change the game to 3-D mode too. it's really an eyesore though but it barely works(when the lights are off in your room).
It was so jawsome. It was indeed an OutRun ripoff, like 3D World Runner was to Space Harrier. The Japs created a US-exclusive sequel, possibly to make an equivalant that the sequal to The 3D Battles of World-Runner was Japan-exclusive (JJ).
I wish Square would stop focusing on Final Fantasy so much and just go make a side game. Rad Racer 3 sounds pleasant, as long as they don't give it a dumb title like Rad Racer Xtreme or Rad Racer: Burnout.

Super Turbo Ex Plus Alpha Rad Racer in 4 D!!!!! Yeah Square should've at least made a Super Nintendo version. It was a Outrun rip- off , but could've been more. Tekken was a clone of Virtua Fighter, but it has grown in depth since then. Somewhat =)

not that I'm aware of, but it's a side game that square did. Sorta fun game, MOST STUPIDLY AMAZING SOUNDTRACK EVER

Ironically I found out about the soundtrack for the game before discovering the game. The game itself is pretty fun. But I think the soundtrack is what really stands out about it. Same guy who did the music for streets of rage I believe.

Indeed, Nintendo published it. They also published (as well as translated) Final Fantasy in '90.
