Well looks like it's true. I went to Gamestop today, and I read a notice saying that they're no longer gonna be selling Game Boy and Game Boy Color games on April 7. Those of you who are going to miss Gamestop selling Game Boy games, check out the games they got now and try buying them as soon as possible before they stop selling them.

*Sighs* I guess we should have known it was just a matter of time. I officially *STOP* with Gamestop. They used to be cool. FuncoLand was so much better! They should still continue to sell them just for the fact that they are playable with the Game Boy Advance, but no.

Honestly where I live there's more fanatic stores that sell loads of that old crap than gamestop locations so I don't really care. Then again the only handheld games I like so far are gba.

Not surprised. GameStop left me behind when they stopped selling titles for N64 and Dreamcast (c'mon, GameStop, they were only taking up one little rack!)

I wouldn't mind it so much, but with GameStop's guerilla tactics, they either drive out or buy out competitor stores that DO sell retro games, thus leaving me with NOTHING.

When they stop selling GameCube games, I don't know what I'll do.

I think emulation kills a lot of retro gaming

That is so true, we used to have a Funcoland, a Game Stop, and an EB Games, now we have three Game Stops.

This is so stupid, Game Boy games were the last retro games they sold, and the prices are usually absurd as it is (except at the mall, I got DuckTales for $3!). What's the point? It's like they're trying to drive away retro gamers, but how exactly does selling this stuff hurt them? Damn... and now Game Crazy stopped selling all retro games except Game Boy games also, so I guess if I want to see the slightest sign of an old game I'll have to travel well over eight miles.
            Game... ovahhhhhhhhh!!!

Well, here's another reason to hate GameStop for me. I only get my games at my local game store, they carry both retro and new games. I'm not trying to advertise or anything, it's just that they need more support.

Congrats, EB GameStop. Just another reason to loathe you.

Guess it wouldn't hurt to visit there one last time.

Now, when you say GB/GBC, you mean they're still selling GBA games? Cuz I can totally live with that.

Man, I wish there's a place nearby where I live that sells old games, I think the closest place where I live is about 3 hours away.

Yeah, I know that you can order these retro games from Amazon or eBay, but aside from the fact that online shopping makes me nervous, it's just not the same feeling of going into a store and browsing through the games. There's just something about being able to pick up the box or cartridge, look at the cover art, talking to an actually knowledgeable clerk about the game, and hold the game in your hands while you're making the decision whether to purchase. Wandering for an hour through a game store is half the experience. And then there's leaving with a newly purchased gem in your hot little hands.

Exactly how much shelf space could GameBoy games actually occupy, anyway? Like two or three feet???

And sometimes they sell you bootleg games. That's why I rarely shop online.

All i have in my area is Gamestop the retro selling Game store we had was bought out by a flower shop. So now allot of my older systems have no new gaes coming. plus i think online buying is very sneaky if i go to Amazon or Ebay i could get a broken or boot leg game.
So i don't really like them getting rid of GBC GB games. But what can you do it is a busneiss decisusion.

Yup. Gamecube has gotta be next on their agenda. Sad. Hopefully they will still take those for at least a few years, but who knows

They clearly don't have feelings for classics gamers anymore. It's all about the big buck.

Actually in this case, Gamestop decided before they bought Funcoland that they would faze the old titles out. Gamecrazy in Hollywood Video has done the same. We need a new game store that sells the classics. We don't all live in Billy Lee land, so here's hoping something happens soon because Ebay and flea markets are getting ridiculous.
