Any true gamer, retro or new konws what this code is. if not go play gradius and find out for yourself... or contra.
If you're a gamer and you don't know the code, well, expect me to go to your house, climb a ladder that leads to your bedroom window, and then I'll point and laugh at you... unless you're a chick, to which I'll just reenact Porky's.
Also Kylewhite, good job knowing that Gradius was the first game to have the code, and not Contra, which a lot of people think it's where it came from.

gradius 3 was the best. the only thing that sucked was to do the code you had to use the sholder buttons for left and right. otherwise you died instantly.
That sounds very minor to make it gain the 'suck' category. I'd say the worst part about Gradius III was it's lag in the levels, like in the second half of the third level.
I thought gradius 3 sucked balls, I couldn't stand it, it reminded me nothing of Gradius and Life Force.
They should've just updated the graphics to Life Force and let that be Gradius 3, at least I'd of been extremely happy. Just like I would if they ever re-released FF7 on next gen with up-date graphics, same story. THAT WOULD BE THE BEES KNEEZ!

That doesn't sound like it makes sense... you mean the constant Gradius-elements, power up system, and Big Cores didn't remind you of Gradius AT ALL?

The lag can sometimes be helpful, though.

A legendary code from way back. Most gamers know or at least heard of this code.
This code isn't limited to only Konami games... all of the other games that use it are purely coincidental, I'm sure.

either way I think i t was still a great game. my friend has the anthology for the psp its pretty cool. I tried doing the code but it dident work...

I was told by EGM that this code worked on ALL the NES games by Konami... :/
EGM is wrong. It doesn't work on Bucky O'Hare, Monster in my Pocket, and Zen: Intergalactic Ninja, just to name a few.

I know; I wish they'd say WHICH games used it! :roll:
I dont know that code, but then again i never have played gradius until about a month ago.
tmnt 2: the arcade game I think has a slightly different version of the code.
