In my opinion, Capcom in the 90s was one of the best companies along with SEGA, Konami and Nintendo. Squaresoft was good too but I wasn't a RPG fan but I did enjoy Einhander which was a shooter. Namco was also okay but the only Namco game I sort of got into is Tekken 3. Capcom's console games in the 90s mainly on SNES, Saturn, Playstation and arcade were amazing. All those fighting games and beat 'em ups were awesome. When you had a Capcom game you knew you had quality and in the 90s. I'll go as far as to say that it was rare to have a bad Capcom game. The only time you'd have a bad Capcom game is if they simply published the game and didn't develop it like they did with Trick'N Snowboarder published in 1999 but developed by Cave. There are so many Capcom games I could list from the 90s but that would take forever. Street Fighter II in the arcade and all the other versions of it always captivated me and it always held a special spot in my mind. Just watching the demo screen in the arcade without even playing or watching others play gave me enjoyment. Mega Man X4 was one of my favorite games of the 90s. I was never really a Mega Man fan but X4 blew me away with its awesome 2D sprite graphics, character and level design and music. Seriously, Capcom was a monster of a company back in the 90s and still is today as far as I'm concerned. Capcom was one of the reasons why I was a proud Playstation owner. Later on I got a Saturn and got a Action Replay 4M Plus so I could play Japanese games and Capcom games were always in English even though they were the Japanese versions of games that never made their way to the U.S.

I understand his confusion though considering the Mega Man X games sported 90s style sprites.

Yes but not in X7 and X8.
