Uhhh, it depends on the game.

I've never had an arcade near me, so I'd say NES for nostalgia.

It depends on the games for me. For example, I prefer the arcade version Donkey Kong over the NES version, and I prefer the NES version of 1943 over the arcade version.

it does very...cause I prefer the NES version of 'Bionic Commando', yet prefer the arcade ver. of 'Spy Hunter'. Its all in how the games were done, with 'Ninja Gaiden'- I like it for both.

The arcade and NES versions are very different. The NES version is the sequel, not a port. Also, the arcade and the Genesis/Mega Drive versions of Strider are the same thing, while the NES version "adapts the storyline of the 1988 Strider Hiryu manga published in Japan, from which the arcade version of Strider was loosely based on as well."

only VS game i ever played was SMB but i like the VS version better cause the levels and power-ups are all mixed up, so it's not what you expect its gonna be. also, the timer seems to run down quicker so it's more challenging than the NES version.

Arcade versions seem superior compared to their ports, but ports are easier to get to and less expensive than the arcade versions, until emulation was born.

Choose which version of these games you prefer:

                        Double Dragon 1
                        Double Dragon 2
Bad Dudes Vs. DragonNinja (NES version is simply called "Bad Dudes")
Kung-Fu Master (NES version is simply called "Kung-Fu")
                        Shinobi
                        P.O.W.: Prisoners of War
                        Robocop
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Arcade Game (NES version is "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game")
                        Space Harrier
                        After Burner
                        Fantasy Zone
                        Yie Ar Kung-Fu
                        Bump 'n' Jump
                        Karnov
                        Ring King
                        Heavy Barrel
                        Battle Wings (a.k.a. B-WINGS or B-WING)
                        Out Run
                        Contra
Super Contra (NES version is called "Super C")
                        Trojan
                        Ikari Warriors

I definitely prefer the arcade versions. They're way more old-school than the NES and the graphics and music are the best.
