When I got my Xbox 360, I knew that Viva Pinata was a must have game for it. So I got Trouble in Paradise (the second one) for my birthday and once I start playing it, it is hard to put the controller down. The game looks simple and has a cute look to it, but it's actually a very deep sim game. Its made by one of my favorite game developers Rare, who also made Banjo-Kazooie, and Donkey Kong Country. It was also called the "best game no one played" because the sales were low. If you own a 360, I recommend that you at least try out Viva Pinata 1 and/or 2. You might even help the games sales enough to hope for a VP3.

The game looks like a cheap marketing gimmick to appeal to the hispanic crowd. I wouldn't give those people my money no matter how many rainbow colored dancing burros there are.

It seems that everyone is just tossing this recommendation aside.

Dude, that's racist, and I'm not even Hispanic. Viva Pinata is a game for everyone.

Yeah, that Hispanic comment was way out of line.

My bad, I didn't mean for that to be interpreted as being racist. Look at it this way- would you agree that Viva Pinata targets the hispanic community in the same way that Barbie games are marketed for little girls?
About the "cheap marketing gimmick," that's the point that I was trying to make.
I live in New Mexico and I have a lot of hispanic friends who agree that games like Viva Pinata or Samba di Amigo and other facets of the media that try to capitalize on hispanic culture are an insult.
I apologize if I offended anyone

No, Viva Pinata isn't marketed towards little girls like Barbie, even if it did have it's own show on 4Kids. Viva Pinata is a game that can be enjoyed by anyone. Think of it as one of the only family-friendly games on Microsoft's console.

...you totally missed his point. However, it sickens me that we tend to sell our own race out (and I'm not trying to be racist.)

and now for something TOTALLY different:

                Go play guitar hero.

He was talking about as if it was supposed to ONLY appeal to little girls like a Barbie game.

I didn't take it that way. I was thinking of, say, using the same marketing tactics, except every instance of LAL TARGET TO LITTLE GIRLS, have it changed to HISPANICS IN GENERAL.

All video games are targetted at someone. Some are just way more blatant about it than others. Very rarely is there a game that's meant for EVERYONE.

Viva Pinata was targetted more for little kids. The Xbox 360, as great as it is for the 15 year old and up male demographic (it's by far my favorite console this gen), doesn't have a lot of family friendly games and that's who MS was aiming for with this game. I actually enjoyed the game myself, it's not something I'd buy but I played it a little bit at my friend's house and I can see why people who are into simulation games would enjoy it. Definitely one of the more underrated games on the system.

The two Viva Pianats and the new Banjo Kazooie are the only good games that Raereware has released for a non-Nintendo system.
