Is it any good and should I get it? Or should I just download games off the Virtual Console?

Thats a hard one. You don't get the Nostalgic feeling of playing on a real old school machine, but you are able to buy and play games that are not available on the virtual console. Most of which can be bought at the thrift store for just a few dollars a piece. But there are games that you can buy off of the vitrual console that are really exspensive for a real copy. Sooooo..... I would say do what I did and do a little of both.

I was pretty happy with my FC twin (pretty similar) until the nes side broke (the connectors came apart as I pulled out a cartridge. I hear that the Retro Duo is built better than the FC twin, so I may pick one up myself. Another thing, the older clone systems didn't play a few games (Castlevania 3, Super Mario RPG etc etc ( However the Retro Duo does!). If you don't mind some of the sound or color being occasionally off (on the NES side) I'd say go with a clone and wait until you come across a real NES and SNES at a flea market/yard sale or swap meet... thats just my opinion though... I have been very happy with most of the clone systems SNES sides. I so hear that the Genesis side (on the trio systems is pretty shoddy (though I haven't tried them myself yet). It's your call, but I think its worth it, especially for the price you can pick one up for.

I would buy a regular one, none thing like having the old school original and relieving memories. But if your tight on money just go with the cheaper one or just save your money a little longer and get the one you want.

Why sould he pay for a fake piece of shit? Buying the real system would be something... but Retro Duo isn't worth it, trust me, I know it's shit.

Or... no, wait, I know, why don't he buy it, realizes it sucks and then he can sell it on ebay, that's a good idea. Don't you think so?

PS - when I say "emulation", than includes Virtual Console.

Thanks for all the mentions guys, I do appreciate it. I would stick to the VC but there some NES/SNES games like Duck Tales, Final Fantasy 3 and Chrono Trigger that i've heard aren't coming to the VC. Plus the main reason is I would really love to own these classic games, I mean the VC is great and all but it would be nice to actually OWN these games.

rirotostichi has the right idea. I have have an NES 2 and a SNES. It's more expensive, but more authentic.
