I bought these two a couple nights ago and already they are like my children. They are both in working order with sound and all that jazz. They need a bit of exterior work and I'm repainting the front panel on Warp Warp . I also still need to figure out the electronics and how to configure the game without having 25,000 volts shoot out my ass.

The games are Berzerk and Warp Warp, supposedly Berzerk caused some guy to have a heart attack back in 1980.
If anybody has an tips regarding upkeep or configuring these two it would be appreciated.

    8) Cool. I always wanted to own a upright game as a kid. I remember watching Silver Spoons and thinking Ricky was the luckiest kid in the world with his own arcade (not to mention rideable train). I found this on the internet (I imagine you probably already found this, but I'll put it here anyway). At the bottom it has the manuals for the games.

Yeah, I got them both for $450 and I've put about $50 into them, but I'm pretty much done with them so I think I got a pretty good deal, although I'm not sure how much they're worth...

"Worth" depends on alot of things when it comes to Arcade uprights.

First question: Are they originals or are they generic cabinets that have had side-art and bezels and marquee's added for the game. I can't answer that as I'm not that die-hard of a collector.

Artwork condition is a big one.....if you care about value, do NOT repaint the cabinet.

Also, a word of caution: The monitors in those arcade machines pack a LOT of juice even after they've been turned off for awhile. You can very easily kill yourself if you touch the wrong place, so keep your hands AWAY from the back of the CRT!!!! I can't stress this enough! :)

I wanted an arcade but realized long ago I'd run out of room before I got all the games I wanted, so I found an old gutted arcade cabinet (to this day I still can't tell what game it originally was) and chopped it up, put a new 4 player control panel on it and made it into a MAME cab. Thats good enough for me :)

Congrats on your find, if they are both working and original then $450 for both is probably a great buy, enjoy them..and remember if your'e poking around inside, BE CAREFUL OF THE THAT MONITOR...

Now you are going to have to put an emulator in one so you can play a shitload of old arcade games.

Nice work, I've worked on mine lately here's a pick me and some mates rockin it. It's an original galaxian cab painted black w/ a ms. pac-man marquee that runs mame and consoles. The cab was gutted for $60 sittin in some guy's garage! I don't play it too often (usually workin on my other hobby - music http://www.myspace.com/airfortress ) now but it's so much fun to have around, and definitely is a croud pleaser when friends come over.

Thanks for the heads up HeadRusch, believe me as soon as I took the back off I had my dad show me what not to touch.

Turns out Berzerk is worth anywhere from 350-500 and Warp Warp anywhere from 75-150, according to my new price guide. Both are dedicated and have the original artwork although I did repaint the front and back of warp warp, but it really needed it and I matched the original color pretty well.

I recently bought another one from some guy for $40 because it didn't work. He said that the past owner's kid was screwing around with it one day and had ruined it somehow. So I offered him $40 after he asked for $50 and hauled the thing home. there were no keys so i had to drill out the back lock, I screwed around with it a bit and couldn't get it to work, but later on I was looking around in it and saw two connectors were disconnected, I plugged them back together and the thing powered up like a champ :D. The game is World Series: The Season but it's a conversion from an old Berzerk cabinet. Someone has painted over the side art, but a little lacquer thinner showed that the original Stern art was underneath so I'm gonna use a heat gun to get the new layer off. I'll have to upload some pictures of this thing later, it's a pretty cool/fun game, and not a bad deal at $40.

Actually Vertex Stern cabninets are excellent for Jamma or MAME since they have a front access to the boards. Maybe I'll have to convert thet conversion some day  I definately won't butcher those originals though.
