It could have been aired any time, but I remember watching it in the late 90's as a kid.

All I remember about it was a group of different animals (I remember a rabbit, a robin I think) and they defended a castle or something. The name of the show might have been whatever the castle was called but I'm not sure. The animals fought with swords and armor. I specifically remember the end of one season where one of the main characters (maybe a rabbit) slays a giant snake in a field.

I thought this TV show might have been Watership Down, but after watching some clips of it, it isn't.

Redwall? I remember this series and the books too.

Ahh! It has to be Redwall! I had this friend who loved this show, but not so much for me heh. I have to give it another chance someday.
