Remember this series?

Probably one of TV's first reality shows even though the term did not exist back in the day.

Even though CC was one of my familys favorite shows and we watched every week, I don't remember any of the shows until around the year 1964.

My favorite stunt involved having a microphone inside one of those huge, outdoor corner mailboxes, like they used to have in most cities. When someone put a letter through the slot a voice would say "thank you" and people would jump in surprise.

I remember one lady started talking to the "voice" in the mailbox like there was a real person inside.

In the 80's the USA network showed the 70's sydicated version called "The New Candid Camera Show"
and this showed such a scene and it was Allen in the mailbox.

In 1970 Allen Funt made what's considered one of the first experiments in reality film.

This sort of cinema verite documentary analyzed the crowd reactions of people exposed to sudden shocking moments, like a teacher walking bare naked into a classroom full of mature people. What is interesting about is that also deals with the reactions concerning race relations at the time. For eample,in one moment a black man and a blonde girl walk lika couple into a line at the airport and almost instantly everybody starts giving there dissaproving looks. It's an interesting cinema oddity worth a look.

The version hosted by Peter Funt, Allen's son is on the GMC Network, or whatever it's called.

THey also show 1 or 2 old CC Classics pieces on the updated series.
