It's not that my family was particularly poor or anything, I think it's just the fact that I had a massive metabolism and my parents wanted to stick to "standard" portion sizes, etc. for me when I was growing up.

But the result was that I got too skinny. I was ALWAYS hungry and always thought about food non-stop.

I just got the standard $1.40 for a school lunch, which was really small, obviously. I would always end up eating parts of other kids' lunches that they didn't eat.

Whenever we would go to an all-you-can-eat place, I would just absolutely gorge haha.

I'm sorry to read your parents didn't let you eat enough. A child should eat healthy, but be allowed to eat till their full.

I was severely underweight during much of my childhood and young adult life. I weight only 118 lbs just a few years ago. I had a very fast metabolism and without realizing it I was also under eating. Sometimes I would sit down to eat and would just lose my appetite. I got made fun of a lot because I was so skinny.

It really comes down to the fact that I wasn't fed enough as a child and that my parents never pushed me to sit at the table and eat. I was a very picky eater and was fine skipping a meal if I didn't like it. I drank a lot of soda and ate a lot of junk food which also spoiled my appetite. My mom's cooking (bless her heart) was also kind of bland.

Anyway I'm fine now and can really put the food away :)

This may sound bad, but for most people it's just the opposite. I'd love to be able to eat a bunch of junk food and stay skinny and not pack on any fat...along with the rest of OBESE America! They need to take your metabolism, bottle it up and sell it! LOL

I felt like I did. Yet somehow, I'm still skinny.

I would have loved to have every single candy, gummy stuff, anything sugar again just so I can have my baby teeth and never have to worry about cavities.

I believe I had way toooo much food when I was a kid. Now I can't help but stuff my mouth, lol.

I practically starved to death as a kid 'cause I was born in piss poor Louisiana. Being born in that state is a curse!

Oh shaddap. I had to hunt down my own buffalo and protect it against pesky Hyenas.

Such a depressing topic. I was a picky eater as a kid, and very skinny, but I rarely didn't have enough to eat. My parents are fabulous cooks, but it was still hard for me to finish meals. I learned to always leave a little bit on my plate, which I guess is a good lesson in moderation/portion control. I did need to eat often, though. Still do, but I don't always get to. When I'm able to see a doctor again, I will have them test me for low blood sugar problems.
