I've been asking people if they remember the name of this show for a few years now. Haven't gotten an answer yet...please reply if you know! It's been torturing me for a while.

It was an educational show I used to watch in elementary school (mid to late 80s). I'm pretty sure it was on PBS. The main character was a little grasshopper (i think) who worked as a reporter. He would write articles about different stories in each episode but his articles would always have mistakes. He would then correct the mistakes. At the end of every show, he would fall asleep on his recliner while watching the american flag on TV.

I remember one specific episode, he wrote an article about a giant leaf that kept falling on people in the woods.

It was a strange show...or at least I remember it was.

Some people have told me they remember seeing it, so I know this isn't a figment of my imagination. It may have been part of another show. PLEASE HELP ME OUT!!

I was the animator for R.B. Bugg. We created a whole backstory for him. His full name is Robert Broussard Bugg. Red Green's full name is Redingote Sitwell Green. R.B. has an aunt and uncle who live in Chicago.

Red Green was played by actress Beverly Todd, who was a lot of fun to work with. She had to talk to empty air, since we added the Bugg character in postproduction.

I am flattered that anyone remembers "The Write Channel." The show was made so long ago that we chose Channel 85 for the TV station's channel number. At the time, UHF TV channels only went up to 82. We never dreamed there'd be cable & satellite channels up beyond 500! And, at that time, there was no such station as WORD-TV. Now there is a religious channel with those call letters. Bugg should have protested their using his call letters, but he waited too long.

BTW, Clyde Frog was produced at the same place: Mississippi Educational TV. But Clyde was a rod puppet. Bugg was a stop-motion puppet.

Anguilla, do you happen to know anything about a show called The Magic Place as well? I know that The Magic Place was made by Mississippi Public TV back in the day. I've recently remembered the names of Miss Mystery, the human host, and her puppet friends Bear Facts and Kelly Turtle. I'd be interested to know the name of the actress who played Miss Mystery.

I also loved The Write Channel. That series was still airing on my local PBS station in the early 90's. I can still remember R.B. Bugg falling asleep in front of the tv while it played the national anthem. It ended every episode.
