I remember having a talking bear that played cassette tapes and told stories or something, and it would move it's mouth along with the words. I think it was Teddy Ruxpin but I'm not certain. As it was it was rather freaky, but the fact that it played standard cassette tapes opened up a whole world of fun. We used to put in Halloween stuff or tapes of horror movie lines, or just stuff we recorded ourselves, and have the bear say stuff (in a very evil voice) like "I'm going to cut out your heart and steal your soul!". Here it's been at least 20 years and I still can't stop lauging about it. :lol:

kinda off topic a bit but wasnt there something like the teddy ruxpin doll .it was a papa smurf that would be kinda like a doll that u feed theses fake peas and they disappear......and then the smurf says what it is......wasnt there a thing where a defective bunch of smurfs would eat one of the foods and say mmmmmmmm it tastes like........sh*t.......maybe it was only near my town we had the defective dolls. lol funny nonethless

I remember once, we made the bear act like a Wrestling commentator, during an episode of Saturday Night's Main Event. We also acted out horror movie scenes with it as well.

I didn't have a Teddy Ruxpin. I had a Talking Cooler Dog from the Pound Puppies he came out after Teddy Ruxpin did and did pretty much the same thing.

HAHA i was never scared of him..but i hardly ever got to play with mine cause my mom thougth id break it *rolls eyes*. Furbies are so much creapier! AHH...two of mine turned demonic on me...one has a glitch and wont stop sneezing!
I loved my Teddy Ruxpin. But this little jerk I used to play with broke his jaw. I also had Grubby, but I never used it (I think I lost the cord or something).
On a related note, recently I found my old, old recorded tape with episodes of the cartoon on it. It was actually pretty fun to watch.

a new Teddy is coming out by christmas.
a company bought the rights to him and is going to completely redo him. now I wish someone would buy lazer tag or photon and rebuild them.

i loved my teddy ruxpin so much. in my home movies he's in almost every shot because when i was 2 i treated him like he was a real person. i also had 2 other talking toys....Talking Mickey and Talking Mother Goose, they were just like Teddy, you just pop a tape in the back and it comes with books to read along

I had a knockoff that was a robot named Casey. he would read the stories and he had a digital face that changed shaped depending on the tone of the story.

hahaha how can you be afraid of Teddy Ruxpin?! i had a Feifel (sp?) that would do the same thing... eventualy, he would just burn up my tapes :x i also had a clock called something like Grand Father Time or Clock or something like that, that came w/ a whole slew of tapes of hime telling stories... i loved that thing...
my sisters used to have a talking barney doll... one night, when i was about 14 i think, i was home alone... i was walking from my room down the hall to the living room... and to do that i had to pass my sisters' room... as i was walking past i hear "I Love You!", which made me jump and squeal like a lil girl. i look over and there is barney sitting on top of their pile of dolls, like it was his thrown of death, w/ his arms stretched out to me! i grabbed him and threw him in the back of the garage... havent seen him since...
