I remember I had this board game that I played like once, and then put it away because it seemed too complicated. I’ve been waiting for it to be reviewed on here or X-E, but it hasn’t been. The game consisted of a 4 generic role playing type characters (dwarf, warrior, valkarie, and archer) and the goal was to move through a dungeon and kill monsters and find these golden weapons. The pieces were really cool, because each monster was a separate figure, the heroes had weapons that could be removed and replaced with said golden weapons, and there were even items (fire bombs, winged boots) that were used in some way. The dungeon rooms were separated with thick cardboard walls and plastic doors that would open. It was like an easy AD&D. I just wish I knew what the name of this game was so I have confirmation of my sanity.

Thats what I'm thinking, the classes and the golden weapons thing is definately Gauntlet, but the game had it's own name...

This sounds much like a Gauntlet board game based off of a mixture of Clue and Dungeons and Dragons. I checked all over my basement for a board game like this, and I turned up nothing. :? I'm going to check the web, it's not going to be easy to find this with this little of information.....
              :(

Thanks a bunch for the help gang. I know the whole Valkarie thing makes it seem like it could be Gauntlet, but it was a female warrior of some sort, so i decided to call it Valkarie. Trying to remember some of the monsters they battled, I remember several orc or goblin pieces with raised swords. The piece that stands out in my memory the most was a red Lion like creature standing on two feet, with a scorpion like tail. I'm going to look into more of the pieces when I visit my family on Sunday. Hopefully someone can figure out what i'm talking about by the time I get back.

Did the game call it a manticore, or something else? God, I can remember playing this thing, but I can't think of the name.
