Did anyone ever go to Nickelodeon Studios at Universal Studios Florida? I sure did (sometime in the prime of Nickelodeon coolness, sometime around 1991-93). I remember watching how they made Slime, seeing the set of Clarissa Explains it All, and the set of a game show (maybe Family Double Dare?). I also remember seeing some of the animation for Ren and Stimpy. I would love to hear other people's memories about it, in case I've forgotten something (which is probable). I doubt they even use those studios anymore, seeing as how most of what they show now is cartoons, but boy that sure was a fun day!
I know you are, but what am I?

Nickelodeon Studios in Orlando closed on April 30, 2005.

All of Nickelodeon's shows are produced in California and New York now.

I was there right around 93' or 94'. It was ok. I saw the slime also. I remember that they had an interactive game show with "Double Dare" like games and an arcade challenge. It was fun when you are 13 years old. Too bad Nickelodeon pretty much sucks now right along with the Disney Channel.

I went there right after Christmas of 1997 with my friend and her family. We got to go on the Double Dare set and they picked me and my friend's dad out of the audience to play a game. It was cool.

I went to Universal every 4 years since 1986, and this last trip would have sucked if not for the islands.
Nick used to have the best tour, i got to see the big ear of corn before All That premiered. I even asked what that was and the guide said it was for an upcoming show. I loved being able to see the behind the scenes.
And then the year they made the Slime fountain, and then because of how long lines were they put in Sega Games, and you used to actually see stuff being done there. Universal used to be so awesome back then, but now the main park is so lame.
Hey, how many times did you go through the Murder She Wrote "ride", or the Hanna Barberra, Ghostbusters, Monster Makeup show, and Backlot tours in your life.
God, I haven't been there since I Have been in College and I am only 5 hours away, AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH.

Nickelodeon peaked in the early 90's? No way, the height of Nick greatness was Turkey T.V. in the 80's!

Nickelodeon started in 1979 and began rising with great shows through the 80's and did peak in the 90's. They still aired some shows from the 80's in the early 90's.

So the 90's was Nicks prime :D

sadly, i've never been. and i like like 12 hours away, not too incredibly far.

so if they closed it down in april, what is in that spot now? is it just an old dingy building that's been deserted? or did they make something bigger and better to fill its place?

this show has been recorded before a live studio audience in orlando studios, florida. Remember that? they would show the nickelodeon building and the orlando globe.

i have pictures of inside when i used to frequent the place. i remember having the taste test of the slime... i also remember the games we got to play... however the set wasnt for family double dare it was simply a set for the tour, not until later in the 90s and early on in the 00's was that set used for anything...

I was there in 92. Saw the fountain. A friend of mine got slimed for a show. I dunno if it was for a promo or what. I sat in the audience.
I only remember seeing the sets from up above, we never got to go down and take a look.

Wow, I had no idea Nick Studios shut down...those evil bastards. What next? Will they shut down the Disney animation studio? Oh wait...they already did that too...*hangs himself*

Wow, thanks for that site! Have you read the 2003 testimonial of the tour on there? Boy, it's heartbreaking! How could the Nickelodeon people have let it happen? So sad...*wipes away a tear*

That crap makes me absolutely sick. Nickeloedeon has now Sold Out, those Jerks. What amde them so unique is that they had their own location and weren't like every other network who was located in California. I guess Nick just couldn't wait to sell out and be a bunch of bastards. No wonder their network sucks so much today
