These were awesome little robot toys that I think came in packs of 3 or 4.
Made by Micro machines. These little guys had symbols on their bodies to specify which team they were on kinda like autobots and decepticons, but if you were anything like me you made your own teams. They had themes like sports and samurai. Most had a futuristic look while others harkened back to 50's sci fi. Very cool toy line with tons of repaints and re-playability
Also I'm not sure if the individual toys had names, but my friends and I always made up our own. example: the little orange Hockey-esque robot was "High-stick" in our play

Yeah those came out in like 92 maybe. I had an obssesion and and had probably about 50 of those things. All the ones that burger king had with there kids meals and the big blue bot that fired missles. They all had there own names but like you said me and my friends would also make better names and teams with them. never really played with them just gave them names and made dream teams. I think by 94 I relized that I was wasting my allowance and stopped buying them.
