He let his ego get the best of him. After no-showing several WWF events in 1996, he was fired by Vince McMahon (this was even after Vince gave him a second chance after holding the WWF up for money in 1991). He went to WCW in 1998, fought Hogan in a hideous match, and demanded more money. When Bischoff didn't give him more money, he left. Rumor has it that he was supposed to go to ECW and lose to Tazz in a squash, but that never happened. Aside from a few independent shows, the Warrior is more or less retired from wrestling.
