Day Of The Dead *just* out-does Dawn of The Dead (1978 version) for me.

George Romero is just about the coolest guy ever to sit behind a camera.

DAWN OF THE DEAD (1978) does it for me. Its freakin creepy, great storyline, awsome goblin soudtrack, and chock full 'o gore that rivals curent special effect. ***** 5-star movie must OWN!

Anybody else go for those nasty late 70's / 80's Italian thrasher zombie films?

Some nasty stuff in those films.

              Love it!

                      Best Zombie Flicks?

Night of the Living Dead was the best in the 60s
Dawn of the Dead was the best in the 70's
80's had a lot of good zombie flicks ...
                      Day of the Dead
Return of the Living Dead 1,2, and 3.
                      Night of the Creeps
                      Night of the Demons

There are a lot more but that is all I can think of off the top of my head.

Night of the Living Dead is the best one especally the one of the 60's , my second choice would heve to be the Night of the Creeps, followed by Day of the dead , Resident Evil A, and the last one is 28days that movie was cool but I just didn't like how it ended.

                          1. Shaun of the Dead

                          2. 28 Days Later

                          3. Night of the Living Dead (original)

Whoa, I actually love this genre-I think it's the creepiest kind of film out there, in my opinion.

My favorites are #1 the "Thriller" video. I know it's not a feature-length film, but I think it's so scary and brilliant. The "Thriller" video in it's half-hour entirety is more frightening to me than a lot of feature-length "horror" movies.

My second favorite is "Resident Evil" and my third favorite is the original "Dawn of the Dead".

agreed, shaun of the dead, although thats a comedy

If you want an actuall horror style Zombie flick,

28 days later gets my vote!

Among with the obvious choices (Night of the Living Dead for example) I'm going to mention The Dead Pit and Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things.

That got me into movies, horror movies, music, Michael Jackson and zombies. I was about 4-5 years old when I saw it for the first time. It was damn scary but extremely interesting. It features some of the best zombie make-up ever.

Agreed. ALL cgi effects should be banned from horror movies for all-time!
