I take a very active interest in the Yuppie subculture of the mid 1980s and the early 1990s. I know back then it was about being materialistic and buying things just because you could. I really wish that the people my age and younger would bring this back as a fashion and media interest subculture similar to Goth, Punk and Emotional.

I notice that today's Goths resemble more of the 80s New Wave/New Romantic look or the late 90s Candy Raver look, so why not bring back the Yuppie in all it's glory, although with a much tighter budget. Sure, you can still have the labels, but hit the thrift shops and discount stores! Don't forget the movies and books on the subject that become cult classics among the subculture! Our music scene can be the standard 80s fare, which isn't standard to begin with, if you're being honest (even pop music at the time was all over the board).

No, I'm not joking. I even have a small collection of Yuppie-inspired outfits started and I'm starting to like white collars on print/color button-ups a lot more lately. Heck, I may end up adding a tie and suspenders to the mix. Sure, people will look at me weird, but it's not as if they don't look a little strange in their Weezer-inspired outfits, geek glasses or frilly black and purple poet outfits.
