It's an old movie but i can't remeber the name of it. I only remeber this line "Who dat man? Wise Gabriel." and i remember the song that was in the film- "Old Man River". Anybody know?

      P.S. ~ It's one of the biggest chic flics out there, so I wouldn't bother watching it. It was made in 1927 and the FIRST musical to have an integrated cast (black and whites on same stage singin' their hearts out)

        ...And kudos to you!! This is an excellent movie, musically and ethically. The scene where the girl cuts her finger and takes her beau's blood through a similar cut (both were white, b ut she was supposed to have some "negro" in her) was very moving. Mark Twain wrote about this subject, also. Just goes to show you that even in the '20's, folks weren't oblivious to what "all men are created equal" meant.

        P.S. I have no intention of upseting anyone with this post. "Showboat" was a genre movie, and does not reflect the views posted by Ptolemaniac.
