There was an old 70's show with a lady in Red Bellbottoms walking down a railroad track singing(I think).. Thats how the show started...It was on PBS or Maryland Public Television or Childrens Television Workshop.... Anyways they would do acting about books. One of the stories they acted out on several episodes was WRINKLE IN TIME. It was on when I was much younger along with a show called BOOK, LOOK, and LISTEN with Hector the Projector etc.....

Can anyone remeber this show? I think she had bellbottoms on and several children were dancing too or something. I think she also had short blondish hair.. It so hard to remember.... I just remeber the Wrinkle In Time episodes....

I wish I did, but I never heard of this show at all. Don't think "Childrens Television Workshop" would've been involved in it unless they didn't kept a record of the programs they produced in the 70's (today they're known as "Sesame Workshop" ). Maryland Public TV would've been the PBS stations serving the state of Maryland, unless they didn't produce programs that were seen on PBS stations elsewhere, as had been the practice of many PBS stations across the country to produce their own shows that were either seen locally or nationwide via PBS.

Only 70's show I can think of is Strawberry Squares. Did the show you were talking about have a black dude with an afro and a kid in a wheelchair along with the lady by any chance???? Strawberry Squares was chock full of bellbottoms and 70's fashion. I hope this helps you out in some way.

I think it was something like that. I remember the people of Strawberry Squares dancing and singing alot. I seem to recall an episode where the kid in the wheelchair was showing his friends how he got around from home to other places. There is this one scene where the kid is shown riding in his wheelchair in one of those lifts on a public bus. Good luck finding pics. I'm still looking for pics of The Magic Place and have yet to find something.

I have fondly remembered this show since watching it in class as an elementary schooler in the 70s. I have been able to find absolutely no references to it online, until I ran across this thread, so I had to register here, JUST to reply. I was actually starting to think the show had been a figment of my imagination...but I do remember the title (as well as bits and pieces of the theme song). It was "Once Upon a Town."

EDIT: ...aaaaand I only just now noticed that, prior to "1 month ago," the time stamp of the OP says "8 years," so I doubt this will be seen by that poster, if anyone. Ah, well.

I was an actor in the "Once Upon a Town" series on MPT. I wish I'd seen the first post sooner. Now it may not matter. After we had finished the series, the episodes were made available to elementary schools throughout Maryland. I forget who wore the red bell bottoms. I think mine were maroon. "Once, once once upon a town, we stopped to take a look around, things started happening, one, two three...etc" (theme song)

I remember exactly what show you are referring to. I cant remember the details, but I know for sure the name was Book Look and Listen. I remember the theme song went something like 🎶book book book book,,things to see, things to here, take a look..🎶
I also remember a camera looking type character.
