I was watching the ABC Family channel and they're now giving their 25 Days of Christmas program where they show the old christmas shows such as "Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer", "Frosty's Christmas", "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town", etc Well, I was watching this movie/show whatever called "Nestor, the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey" about a Donkey named Nestor who lived in a manger with his mother and had really long ears. He was made fun of by the other animals and nobody wanted to buy him. One day, the owner got pissed off and took the donkey by the ears and threw him off a cliff into the snow. The mother went after him and kept him warm for the night. The next day, the mother died or froze to death. The donkey was all alone and met an angel who led him to Bethlehem where he lived in another manger. Again, he was made fun of by the fellow animals and nobody wanted to buy him cause of his ears. One day, Joseph and the expecting Mary came to buy a donkey to help them over to a safe, warm place. They were attracted to Nestor and decided to buy him. Nestor led him to a warm manger where Mary gave birth to Jesus and Nestor became a hero.

Ok, that show was the most depressing christmas show i've ever seen in my life. It only had 10% happiness! Has anyone ever seen this? What do you think?

No, I've never seen it, and it's likely I never will.

Every time I see that, I start crying. I was watching that last night with my wife and kids and they started crying too.

Nestor wins in the end and is finally accepted for who he is and is truly revealed to be special. If you call that depressing you've never seen "Where the Red Fern Grows" the live action film based off of the kid's book.


Jesus, I had to fight to keep from balling in sixth grade after seeing "Where the Red Fern Grows" and it wasn't and still isn't easy for a show to make me do that. Now that movie is depressing, Nestor's ending is uplifting.
