Okay, now this might sound like an unusual question, but did any of you actually try to celebrate Christmas in the month of July? God, I can't believe I asked that!

No, but some of the stores have xmas stuff for sale right now. (...And I certainly wouldn't have minded a few snowstorms in place of this recent heatwave.)

The funny thing is that I often wind up watching xmas specials during summer months, but then completely fail to get into the spirit in december.

I don't know. I think it's just an excuse to sell Christmas stuff on TV, in stores, etc.

No celebrating "Christmas in July" for me, but my local adult contemporary radio station has been celebrating it this week by playing Christmas music -- not that I listen to the station, just flipping through stations.

there's an actual history to "Christmas in July" I could go on about it but the basic idea is because Christmas is genuinely shown in the media to be celebrated in the snow. Countries in the southern hemisphere have an unofficial Christmas celebration held in July to reflect what is shown in the media as "proper celebration" We did it a few times in Summer camp as a kid and it was always fun.
you can read about it here if you like.

I celebrated Christmas (Dec 25) in Monterrey Mexico once. And to be Honest it was kind of weird opening presents and saying "Merry Christmas" as beads of sweat rolled off my brow. There was even a dude dressed as Santa who showed up on the beach in a sleigh with a Donkey.
