I never found out why; does anyone know the reason that they stopped making new episodes for the original Ninja Turtles TV show? I never really thought about it, and I watched the show right up to the end, but why did it end?

The ratings got poorer. It was around the time Power Rangers was the top children's show. The ratings dipped sometime after they got rid of Shredder and Krang.
good call, i never cared for power rangers, around were i lived you were teased if you watched power rangers calling them potty trainers or somthing rather
i think that if they would have held onto them for another year or two the ratings would have surged back...I mean look at how long the simpsons have been around, why couldnt the turtles of done the same?
With the introduction of Dregg, and he had some things in common with a Power Ranger villain, Zedd. He wasn't liked very much.

The Animaniacs also spoofed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in certain episodes. The great thing about that is Rob Paulsen was the voice of Raphael in TMNT and he was the lead voice actor in Animaniacs. I think when they spoofed the TMNT, he did his Raphael voice for the spoofs.

Yeah whenever you get rid of a villian such as Shredder or Krang you are bound to create a halt in any sitcom. I mean they were the coolest villian (except for Cobra Commander) and General Dregg was ok, I guess, but couldn't fill the shoes of Krang or Shredder.
