this movie was awesome, they have a sweet ride of this at universal studios were you go on a bike and they made it look like your actually flying.

E.T makes me cry, and not because it's a sad movie. That alien freakes the crap out of me. Especially the part when he was found by the river...*shudders*

It's funny, I can watch movies with aliens in them which would give any other kid nightmares for weeks, but one glimps of E.T and I'm the one having nightmares.

I'm assuming to help contain any diseases E.T. might be carrying. Not sure what tubes you're talking about.

Wasn't there a short lived Saturday morning cartoon with E.T. or maybe it was proposed and never got off the drawing board.

Not that I'm aware of, I know there was a Gremlins animated series planned, and from what I hear there's even a pilot, but nothing like that for ET.
ET did get a sequel in novel form called "The Book Of The Green Planet", but no animated series.

I was really glad they put E.T. back in theaters for it's 20th anniversary (in 2002), but I hated the changes they made (such as adding CGI in) Almost as if they thought the only way they could get people to go see it in theaters was to "update" it. The funny thing is, they made E.T look much more fake by making him CG.

By the way, I want to buy E.T. on DVD, but I don't know what version of the movie is on the DVD I always see in stores. I know a special edition was released in 2003 that contained both the 1982 and the 2002 versions, but the one I always see in stores now looks like it only has the one from 2002. Although, it doesn't say on the cover which version it contains.

I actually don't think I've see the movie start-to-finish. I've definitely seen bits and pieces... and it's possible that I saw it about 15 years ago, but I definitely have not seen the entire thing recently enough to remember doing so.

I've got to do that one day.

They had Elliot and ET laying on operating tables side by side at one point. And ET was put into a container to be frozen when he died. Thats about the closest thing I can think of to incubators.

Yes there was a cartoon of E.T. in the 80's it was okay , there was a video game also. E.T. is a good movie I went to go see in the movies when it came out in 82. I even had the E.T blanket and sheet set for about 10 years. I read a that a few years ago that Drew Barrymore was talking to Steven Speilberg about doing a sequel but he told her that he's not interested in doing one.

Yep her name was Gerdy in the movie. I agree it is a odd name.

                              E.T. Rocks.

Yes, I've seen that movie around 1987 or 1988 when I was very young but it was made in 1982 the year I was born.

They also changed the police officer's guns to walkie-talkies during the scene where the kids are running from the police on their bikes, and when Mary forbids Michael to dress up as a terrorist for Halloween, "terrorist" was changed to "hippie". They made fun of that in the South Park episode "Free Hat".

In the 1993 horror flick "Doppelganger" Drew Barrymore replaced E.T. with the alien-like doppelganger creature.I guess cause it reminded her of E.T.Only it was an alien for adults;not kids. There's a press photo she took of the doppelganger prop thingy on the set of the movie. It has green eyes just like her.I like to call it "The Green-Eyed Monster".
