The no name Storm (Aka the perfect storm, my dad lost six good friends in that storm: Billy,Bobby, Alfred, Sully, Bugsy, and Murph. He met them in the Coastguard when he came to inspect the Andrea Gail. Flooded all of downtown Nantucket, and destroyed a few wharves.)

2007

Noel: Wow, the first time I stood in 100+ mph gusts as a true hurricane nut. I drove by the local cemetery many times to check on grandmas grave. Several trees were down near her grave. Saw several powerlines down, as well as several arcs. My storm windows blew out. I live in my grandmas former house, so several windows were gone. The gardens were covered in privet leaves. The new fence dad and I built in '05 was down. I also went down to the town pier and helped dig, yes dig several boats out of the beach.

I've been through hurricane Charlie (or Charles)...don't remember what year...i think it was summer 05. After it ripped through Florida, it came to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where I was staying with my grandmother. I've never been so terrified in my life..I thought I'd never go back to my family, dog, boyfriend, friends, life in NYC. It damaged half of my grandmother's apartment complex: some of the roofs, fences, things ended up in the pool. It also almost ripped my grandmother's door apart while we were sleeping. She didn't tell us (my sister and I) as it was happening because she didn't want to freak me out! hmph!

Katrina was a category 1 and messed up the yard, but I'll NEVER forget Opal. Opal was crazy....it blew the attic vents off my guitar teacher's house, blew the top off a humongous pine in our yard, which my cousin came up from florida with his friend to take down the rest of the way so I could go logger on it with a handsaw.

My sisters' neighborhood was the worst, it was blocked front and back by trees, one of which fell over my sister's brand new car and squashed it flat down the center, and the others completley blocked any navigation through the other side of the neighborhood.

Funny thing was after Katrina, I moved northwest, and everybody thought I was moving because of the hurricane, lol.

I remember Andrew as I was *very* close to that part of Florida where it had hit. Lost power for several hours that night, shingles torn off the roof, but really the only one I remember (and I was born, raised and turned 18 in Florida!)

Hurricane Bonnie in '98. The weatherman said it was the size of TEXAS and me and my family were OUTTA there! LOL. We went inland to Richmond, VA where it was incredibly boring and I couldn't wait to get back to Virginia Beach. Surprisingly, there wasn't that much damage in my local area.

Bonnie really wasn't that big. I think you're thinking of Floyd. Floyd was huge and badass.

We've had a few dozen. There were more around here in the 90s. The ones I remember most were Hurricane Bob, Bertha, Fran, Frances, Bonnie... The others are fuzzy. We get so much bad weather it's hard to tell the difference between hurricane residue and normal storms.

Wow, living in New Jersey, I\'ve only been through one- Hurricane Gloria in \'85. And even then, it was only the benign side of the storm- as I recall Long Island got the worst of it.
